Can you remove that screw you tried to tighten and shorten it? It sounds like it’s bottoming out in it’s hole. Possibly they sent you the wrong screws?

I would suggest sending it back or contacting them. I have the same lift kit and mine does not have the play in the plate that you are experiencing. There is something wrong for sure - but Woodpecker will take care of your problem.
