Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Desktop

Posted by admin on April 28th, 2010 filed in Garden Bird Control

I really like the desktop cube effects available in linux. In my opinion, linux does everything vista does better, except for gaming. Best part is, it’s totally free, and even has an easy windows dual boot installer! www.ubuntu.com The ubuntu windows installer is called wubi, just do a search for that, download it, run it, and you’ll have a dual boot computer in no time - Then go to add/remove under applications, add compiz advanced desktop control and enable desktop cube!

hey dude can you tell me how to set up my desktop like that?

Sure, do you have Ubuntu and Compiz Advanced Desktop effects installed already?

  3. robertoct Says:

    YES I DO

Cool, open up compiz, then enable desktop cube, rotate cube, and 3d windows. In rotate cube under the general tab, set the zoom to 2 (instead of 0). Now when you press Ctrl+Alt+leftmousebutton, you should get the cube to rotate like I have, and enabling 3d windows should have made any open windows you have pop out. Last thing you need is the background image. Under Desktop Cube, you should have an option under the Appearance tab that says Skydome. Click on the first checkbox and that will

cool, glad I helped! I guess it cut off that last part, did you find the earth and moon skydome okay? You can just do a search for earth moon skydome if not

dude, how do you zoom in and out when rotating the cube. it’s really bugging me having it so up in my face XD

  8. jmbzkw Says:

Sorry for the late reply! Enable Desktop Zoom in Compiz, and I think the default button is you hold the windows “start” button down (between ctrl and alt) and use the mouse scroll wheel!
