LAW QUESTION!!! Are "Pigeon Spikes Legal" HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Posted by admin on April 3rd, 2010 filed in bird control productsI have a webs website and it is about pigeons. Google adds are on it and they are advertising for "Pigeon Spikes" You put them on your roof and the pigeon gets stabbed by them and dies. Is that legal because my defense is that if cats, dogs or any other pet could fly would it be legal to have "Dog Spikes"? I mean just because pigeon poop on people’s heads doesn’t mean they can kill them for it! I think pigeons should have equal rights as any bird or pet. In your answer please tell me if it is legal and how I can go about stopping it. Thanks!!!

They do not kill birds, the birds will not land on sharp objects so it keeps them (and the poop) away from your roof.

They are legal as long as the person putting them up owns the property. They are not designed to kill the birds, they are only to deter them from landing, the bird would have to be impaled on the spike to die so hopefully that makes you feel at least a little better.
They actually do not work all that well and you could start really pushing that aspect of it to help stop these…here is a site that has visuals of how the birds nest around the spikes that should help in your efforts:
