Bird Deterrents To Scare Birds Away From Your Property

I live in an apartment complex while going to college and there is this area in the middle of the building that is empty, but I can see from the hall, and pigeons hang out there. I always see this pigeon couple sleeping next to each other and walking around together and just always together. Also, they have kids and I see them taking care of the chicks. I know they are the same pigeons, because one is nearly all black and the other is light brown. I like how loyal they are to each other and how the father helps take care of the kids…not just the mom. Not just that, but I think pigeons are really pretty colors: green, purple, and grey and stuff.
I hate stores that put up those spikes that rip off the pigeons toes. -_- Esp. those trashy stores like The Gap. Ughh.
Am I the only one who likes pigeons though…all I hear is "they are rats with wings," and people complaining that they poop (which is like duhhh they are living creatures).
I love all creatures, but I think pigeons are honorable because they are so faithful to their partners, they clean up messes on the street, are fairly quiet, and are sooo pretty.
